For so many reasons I don’t understand, these past few months have been really hard. I’ve had so much anxiety. I’m not sure if it’s the girls going back to in-person school, all of us spending more time in public spaces, or simply being scared for my girls who are growing up so fast!

My doctor said he worried about people with anxiety, like myself, who will have a harder time emerging from Covid quarantining. We are the ones who have a hard time believing it’s back-to-normal now (or at least normalish). It has definitely been a struggle to stop worrying.

1. How are you assured that CBD is assured safe for long-term use?

        There is evidence that humans have been using cannabis and CBD for thousands of years! As one of the world’s most ancient and hardy plants, it’s not surprising that it has been used for many things from women’s health to treating inflammation topically and internally. CBD is one of the cannabinoids present in the hemp plant that mimics our bodies own endocannabinoids. When we replace those cannabinoids lost due to stress, discomfort and poor rest, our bodies are able to slowly rebalance to reach a state of homeostasis.

        Also, according to the World Health Organization, CBD is a safe product. Their report says “Across a number of controlled and open label trials of the potential therapeutic effects of CBD it is generally well tolerated, with a good safety profile.” You can read the report here! According to this report, CBD is non-habit forming, you do not develop a tolerance to it, and you can not overdose on it.

2. What is the age minimum for CBD? A lot have asked about their teenagers.

        Our Dosage Support team is unable to advise you about dosage for children under 18 years old. For these questions, we encourage you to speak with your pediatrician.

3. Can CBD be taken while breastfeeding? / Can you take CBD while pregnant?

Unfortunately, pregnant and breastfeeding women are always the last group to be studied in clinical trials, so there’s very little data as to whether or not CBD can be used during pregnancy. The absence of data leaves us unable to fully answer your question! New CBD studies are published monthly so we are keeping an eye on it.

Ultimately, for most women it comes down to whether CBD is helping them manage stress and reduce the amount of pharmaceuticals they’re taking. It comes down to personal choice and a discussion with your doctor. No matter what you decide, we are here to support you!

4. Does CBD help postpartum anxiety?

        Many of our members use CBD to help control the symptoms of their postpartum. We lose so much of our body’s endocannabinoids during pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding that many members find CBD to be incredibly helpful for bouncing back after giving birth! Of course, it’s always best to have a conversation with your doctor when adding CBD to your routine.

Traveling to South Carolina was initially organized for a work trip. I was invited to Hilton Heady by HGTV to visit and document Bryan Patrick Flynn’s Dream Home for the 2020 giveaway. And let me tell ya, I was so excited to see this beauty in person! I had heard so many great things about Hilton Head and knew I wanted to stay longer than just a couple of days.  I didn’t know this before but Hilton Head is actually a beautiful island off the coast of South Carolina. There are mossy trees overhanging in the streets which make everything feel so dreamy. There is a charm that I just personally love and cannot get over how pretty it was.  Best of all, I got to invite my sister Catherine, and my mom along with me so that we could extend this trip and make a vacation out of it. Let me tell you, I’m so happy we did!

Aside from visiting the 2020 HGTV Dream Home, (by the way, whoever wins this is one lucky person!) I want to tell you about the wonderful resort we stayed at during our extended stay. Sonesta Resort kindly hosted us on their beautiful property for five nights. We originally planned on staying only three nights but got stranded there.  (More on that below.)  The hotel is located right on the beach and so many amenities to enjoy. Every morning we enjoyed breakfast in their restaurant and appreciated the time to have a slow morning and some great views of the pool and curation of lush trees on the property. Some mornings mom would order coffee for room service since she’s the early riser in the group and we would enjoy sipping from our mugs while sitting on our balcony, or truthfully, from the comfort of our beds, haha!

After breakfast we would walk around the property and then head to the beach to search for any seashells we could find and we would also spot so many sand dollars (they’re known for this!). Hunting for seashells is one of my favorite things to do when vacationing near a beach. The area around the resort was different than most as it was flat and had solid ground. This was perfect for any type of athletics. We would watch so many people run along the water.  Cath, mom, and I took several long walks up and down the beach site seeing and just loving the sound of the waves.  One day we even rented bikes and rode several miles up the coast!   Seriously, it was just stunningly beautiful.

Sonesta Resort offers many types of rentals, from bicycles to paddleboards, and we were so pleased with our bike rental experience. The flat sand made it easy to ride our bikes along the water. It was so refreshing and all three of us said this was a highlight of our stay. I highly recommend it! We rode for hours, and along the beach, you can stop off at other spots to grab a drink or a bite to eat. Another option is to ride the bikes or walk along the paved paths around the island. There are boutiques and restaurants nearby if you like to explore.

Considering our trip was in January, we weren’t able to enjoy the ocean, but I cannot wait to bring Rob and the girls back here in the summertime! Coming from Chicago’s winter, we still brought our bathing suits and enjoyed their hot tub and even their pool! We may have been the only ones swimming in 60 degrees but the pool was warm to us! In the warmer season, Sonesta Resort also has a restaurant next to the pool for poolside service and offers fun camps and activities for kids. I know Olivia and Lorelei would love that. When I return I’ll also take advantage of the spa on site. This momma would love a massage! There is so much to do on the property that you don’t even have to leave the resort!

The last bit I’ll share is how accommodating and friendly the staff are. From the get-go, everyone was so kind and went out of their way to accommodate us. We always felt welcomed and were happy to have such great service and smiling faces. The day before we were supposed to fly home, we discovered our flight was canceled due to poor weather conditions in Chicago. Instead of getting stuck on a layover, Sonesta Resort gladly accommodated us for two more nights while the bad weather passed back at home. (Thank you!!) We definitely didn’t mind having to stay two more days.

We had such a great time visiting Hilton Head. If you’re ever in Hilton Head, you must stay at Sonesta Resort! We can’t wait for our next trip back!

Susan here to talk to you about what every mama here knows so badly – we need a vacation. Let me tell you about one of the best local spots I have come across.

Lake Geneva is a beautiful vacation destination spot located only an hour away from both Chicago and Milwaukee. The town developed around the turn of the century and let me tell you, the houses look like it. They are just so beautiful and ornate and I just absolutely love their charm and character. The downtown is super cute and being as it’s a resort town there are tons of charming restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, and all of this is right next to a picture-perfect lake dotted with stunning mansions.

Over Labor Day our family had the opportunity to vacation in this adorable town. We stayed at the Grand Geneva Resort which is located on a beautiful, tree-filled expanse of pristine Wisconsin terrain. Seriously, look at this Google map and see how close it is to town, the lake, and how it’s nearly it’s surrounded by woods.  We spent time wandering around the resort’s property and saw they offered so many amazing options for their guests. They had horseback riding, restaurants, bonfires, pools, hot tubs, and so much more.

For those of you who love sports, there is an 18-hole golf course on their stunning property. They also have The Mountain Top ski and snowboard hill if you’re into that! Personally, I would’ve loved to use their WELL Spa + Salon, but maybe I’ll just save that for next time and sneak in a little private momma time. Something our girls loved was the Moose Mountain indoor water park at Timber Ridge Lodge. We shuttled there from our room and the girls thought it was the best. To add to the list of our injured family, Lorelei was still in her boot, but she was able to enjoy the lazy river and all things relaxing.

The first night at the Grand Geneva we wanted to keep it low key. We knew the next day was going to be hectic with swimming and site seeing, so we enjoyed a delicious dinner and drinks at Brissago. Brissago is an Italian restaurant right inside the main building and 200 feet away from our room. Rob and I splurged and bought ourselves steak dinners. Let me tell you, Rob was in nearly crying tears of joy the food was so amazing. He kept saying he could cut his steak with his fork. It was that good. Later we relaxed in the jacuzzi chatting away while my sister and brother-in-law played Marco Polo with the girls. Rob was sad to not swim with the girls but secretly happy he was only capable of sitting in the hot tub because of his limited mobility due to his recent shoulder surgery.

The next day we were up early as the girls were amped for swimming again.  (Thank goodness there was a Starbucks right in the main building! You mommas know the need for morning coffee!) After an hour or so of pool time, we were hungry and decided to try one of Lake Geneva’s cute little cafes. We took the resort’s free shuttle downtown and found Avant which is this charming bicycle-oriented café with amazing food, and yes, more coffee. Afterward, the girls and I had some girl time with my mom and sister walking around the town to see the sights and boutiques. We found plenty of adorable shops with cozy sweaters, Halloween decor, and all things fall as the season was just turning. We capped the afternoon with a glass of rose in a beer garden covered with beautiful ivy.

That evening we went for one last swim and the girls were just exhausted. After we tucked them into bed we all hung out a bit longer with the intentions of staying up late and enjoying a bottle of wine, but after 20 minutes we all decided to call it a night.

For our last day at the Grand Geneva, we had the idea to set up a little surprise for the girls and decorated the hotel room with a little Kindred Vintage flare (it’s a vacation after all)! This mid-morning celebration was filled with doughnuts, gluten-free cinnamon rolls, wine, local beer, and a few poolside toys! We couldn’t have been happier with our local weekend away!

A few weeks ago I got an invitation that made one of my biggest dreams come true… We’re going to the Silobration at Magnolia!!!! From what I’ve learned, it’s the adult Disneyworld. And anyone who knows me knows how much I love the magic of Disney. This is beyond my wildest dreams.  Even as I’m write down this post to try and express myself, that I get to visit Magnolia Market and I get to meet the makers of my favorite paint line too. (Seriously, I have covered my house in Magnolia brand paint by Kilz.  These are just three examples.  I could go on…)

Another thing that I’m really excited about is that I get to bring my beautiful momma.  And the best part… it’s her birthday.  She says she likes to celebrate her 39th again because she stopped counting before she got to 40.  My wonderful husband offered to watch the kiddos since a weekend of shopping isn’t really his thing anyways.    I’m really looking forward to seeing all the wonderful vendors and trying all the amazing food that will be there!

Alright guys, this is going to be a shorter post since I still need to pack.  (My husband will never know why I wait to the last minute).  But I will absolutely be blogging about the trip right after I get home and will fill you guys in on what I am sure to be amazing details!  And you better believe that if I get to meet Chip and Joanna I’ll be screaming it to the world!!!
