Did you guess we would turn that antique arch into an alcove opening?! 😉
I knew I wanted something to make this sweet bed nook even cozier so when I came across this $40 arch on marketplace I knew just what I wanted to do with it! 👏🏻 I chose the height I envisioned and Rob added a board to the top and sides. And presto, my vision came to life! Honestly, inspiration is everywhere and it hits when you least expect it, like when you’re scrolling marketplace way past your bedtime. 😉. #diy #bedroomdecor #hygge #alcove

The harlequin floor is done!!
When my daughter told me she wanted something special in her room but also wanted to keep it neutral I got to work brainstorming ideas. As soon as I showed her my vision her face lit up and she was so excited. I wasn’t sure how to tackle this but Rob and I figured it out and it turned out better than I even imagined! I know it’s hard to envision the room done when nothing is in it, and at this stage the different textures may appear to be a lot but trust me, I can see it done. 👏🏻
I can’t wait to bring in her vintage bed and art and finish making this room over for our girl!

When a paint color is so amazing, any editing just wouldn’t do it justice, so you don’t! You guys, I mayyyybe had a slight freak out moment when the paintbrush first hit the wall! Not because I’m any stranger to color but because this color went into my daughters room, the color she picked, but after all she did ask for a space room so this was a happy medium to the purple and black galaxy wallpaper. 😊 I have to admit, once it was up I loved it sooooo much I painted the ceiling to match!! You guys, it’s pure magic in here now! This pic was snapped at 7pm and like I said, there’s no filter on it. I’ll take a pic again in the morning light, there’s a tinge of green and it’s 🙌🏻 I can’t wait to get to decorating. OHHHH and that vintage twin bed… I mean can you even?? 🤤

I wish I could say I’m one or the other when it comes to listing my candles but truth is, I’m both! I love a good candle and now I get to be excited about cute & fun ways to light them! Now speaking of good candies, I am SO excited about these ones from @anthropologie they’re what dreams are made of, especially when I’m relaxing! (Or attempting to) ;) Tell me, how cool are the all wax ones because I knew I needed them as soon as I laid eyes on them!

Who says you have to choose?!
I couldn’t decide between the two end blankets for this cozy, slightly spooky, autumn/Halloween makeover in our guest bedroom SO I went with both! 👏🏻

I asked you guys your thoughts surrounding what I chose for this room and I know I scared a few of you with what I ended up with. 😂

By now you probably know that I personally love pulling together textures and patterns that may look too overwhelming before they’re put together. It’s always been my style but if it’s not yours simply choose a few of staple items you love! Remember, decorate your home for YOU and the ones YOU LOVE, in my opinion, if you do that there’s no wrong way! 🥰

I thought it would be fun to show you the textures up close, like I did last Sunday in our living room. Perhaps, I’ll go room to room in our home and make it a weekly thing?! Is that something you would be interested in?

What does your perfect autumn tablescape look like? For me, it isn’t elaborate, or fancy. Instead it’s just the opposite. It’s casually gathering outside in the crisp fall air, wrapped up in a big flannel blanket, good food, red wine and even better company. The grab your plate, grab some grub, gather around, and fill your glass type of setting under the twinkle of string lights. And I am so happy and grateful to have created many of those spaces for friends and family to gather over the years.

One of my favorite transformations to date, is this space behind our garage at our last home. It went from neglected and abandoned to warm and cozy with daydreaming and hard work. Looking at this picture has me feeling inspired to create more. I’ve got work to do. ;)

THREE rooms in one ✨ or at least that’s what i

THREE rooms in one ✨ or at least that’s what it feels like 😉 If you caught stories last night I mentioned painting and redoing a few rooms all at once.

I wanted to put the “before” photos here of two of the rooms we are working on, to give you reference before I start sharing all the progress happening in each space. Don’t worry, I am not redoing their sweet bathroom, I just finished that, but it’s a good starting point since it connects the two rooms I AM working on.

In this first picture of the bathroom, through that door is what used to be the girls’ shared room (second pic), and if you were to spin around from where I am snapping the bathroom pic you would have seen the previous playroom (third pic, also it’s the best picture I have of the space even though it’s decorated for Christmas 📸 by @aesthetiica).

Hopefully this helps when the stories start coming through about the rooms we are transforming! Honestly, your comments & advice at the start of the summer, when it came to separate bedrooms really helped my mama heart to grasp this change! So thank you. 💕 Here goes nothin’!

Want to hear my number one tip for making a room cozy? It’s as simple as one single word, TEXTURE! I am a firm believer in adding elements to a space that speak to your heart and the more dimension, interest, and detail they have the better, really you would be surprised at how well so many different textures work together.

This morning I did something different, before church I ran around and snapped up close pictures of some of the elements in our living room to show you that even though no two are alike together they’re magical. Swipe over to see!

Have you started decorating for fall yet?! 🍁
I have added a few faux pumpkins here and there that I will be showing you soon but aside from that, nothing major yet!

I was looking back at inspiration I created from years past, and immediately got into the autumn decorating mood. This image I snapped of our former home’s porch all decked out for the autumn season will always be a favorite of mine!

I miss this porch. Funny thing, I hated it up until we limewashed the house, painted the door and steps and made it something to be proud of! Then once I added those pumpkin pops, and moody leaves fell I just couldn’t get enough! A quirky back story, we didn’t have our landscaping done yet so I grabbed the hay stack and covered up the dirt where a bush eventually went. Don’t look too closely. 😅

Do you like rearranging the furniture in your home? For me, it’s always fun to switch things up!! There’s excitement and beauty in reusing items I already own to create a whole new space or vignette. It could be moving a sideboard or thinking up a whole new look for our glass cloche! All I know is I’m loving this sideboard in its new spot. Our guest bedroom finally feels complete! After a summer break from this space I went back to my design roots, and just went with what felt right for the room. Can you believe everything was deigned around and inspired by this amazing @anthropologie mirror?! I was instantly drawn to it’s vintage feel, which lead me to the old world wallpaper, which inspired the paint, the antique dresser and bed… you name it, it all started there. It’s all coming together and I’m so happy with the way this room makes me feel. Which is what I strive for in every room I design. We had such a fun filled weekend and visiting my long time, sweet friend Liz at the Found Cottage Mercantile market was a highlight! This weekend we made so many sweet memories including this one of my sweet girl taking pictures of @lizmariegalvan and how kind Liz was to tell her she was impressed by her little photography skills. 🥰 Just a little reminder that kindness, support and love is what truly makes the world go round.

I will be on tomorrow to share more about our weekend, THE PROJECTS we’ve been up to, (SO MANY but think wallpaper for one!) and the gathering we ended the weekend with! Excited to share so much. But for now, it’s back to the basics, a real life post, family, friendships and a reminder to spread kindness & joy like it’s free, because well, it is and it’s such a gift! ❤️

We visited The MaeRose this week and worked on quite a few things. These old homes always have something that needs attention don’t they?!
Speaking of which, we had the coolest, handiest, water spigot installed by @aquorwatersystems! I was first drawn to this system because it’s so chic & pleasing to the eye but I’m now loving it even more since it makes using the hose so much easier. Also, I love that it drains all the water so you don’t have to worry about your pipe freezing in the colder months! So handy, especially living in Chicago! See stories to see just what I mean…😘

Creating a backyard hideout where our family can escape to just be is something I will always be grateful for.

I knew I wanted our @tuffshed to be multifunctional and the last minute decision to add a loft space to turn into a “bedroom” turned out to be one of the greatest moves we made! I love coming out here to snuggle up and watch a movie on the projector with my favorite people. I’ll never regret slowing down and taking it all in!
